28/12/17 Thursday
After checking out from our hotel, we headed to Lucerne train station to catch the earliest train at 8am, from Platform 12 to Interlaken OST.
Before you board the train, please remember to get a hot chocolate drink and their famous macarons at Bachmann.
Super thick hot chocolate and yummy macarons to accompany the 2 hours journey to Interlaken OST.
A very scenic 2 hours journey from Lucerne to Interlaken, remember to sit on the right side of the train.

Once we arrived at Interlaken, we have to get out to change to Platform 2A to Lauterbrunnen, and the 20minutes break is good enough to drag your luggage to another platform.
From Lauterbrunnen, you continue another 15 minutes journey to Wengen. |
Remember to get out from Wengen as it is the last station before you need to pay for the ticket ascending up to Jungfrajoch.
We were lucky that our hotel is just 200 metres away from the train station.
Wengen will held the International Ski Festival in January annually |
Had the best lunch at the restaurant at Hotel Bernerhof & Residence
some cheese omelet and pork |
melted cheese dipped with pickled and potatoes, seriously, we could not finish them at all |
overlooking this view from the restaurant |
We casually asked the waiter where to go for sightseeing as we have decided to go to Jungfrajoch on the next day. The waiter asked us to walk further up and turn left to a church, he said.
He was so right. The view outside St Bernard's church is simply stunning and breathtaking.
We sat there for few hours..just to appreciate the picturesque view |
Awww...simply simply breathtaking |
Decided to build a snowman with Jou's hand knitted scarf. |
few benches around for a purpose |
The clock tower right next to the church |
We decided to take a train back to Lauterbrunnen to see the Staubbach Falls.
Unfortunately, it was already frozen. Go google Staubbach Falls in summer.
Too bad the day time during winter is fall too short. This is the view at about 6pm.
With the moon shinning so brightly at 6 pm huhu..
Luckily there is Coop nearby and I managed to grab a bottle of cheap wine |
Luckily bought some instant noodles along as we were already sick of the Swiss cuisine. Don't get me wrong, Swiss cuisine is delicious but after eating them for like 3 days continuously, the husband and I really need some Asian Delight. Yes, like what they said..You can take me out of Asia, but you cannot take the Asian out of me :) |
Yumss..nothing beats eating a bowl of hot and spicy Penang White Curry mee in the winter |
View from my balcony |
Chilling my wine by putting it in the snow at my balcony. 10 minutes and it is already all chilled. |
Good night world. Wengen is just a small town mainly for winter activities and also a good stop before ascending to Jungfrajoch- top of Europe |
Stay tune for our next trip to the top of Europe- Jungfrajoch !
