New Zealand Day 11 : Vineyards at Marlborough , Quick Stop at Picton and Motueka

8/11/2016 Tuesday

Rise and shine. Thank the sky God, today weather is PERFECTTTTT!
Had the best chocolate milk for breakfast while Jou had her coffee to continue staying alive.

Best Choco Milk in New Zealand. Any one of you going to NZ, please help me buy 1 bottle will do, thank you so much
Right after we checked out, Jou drove us to The Vines Village which is just 15 minutes of driving distance from Blenheim down to Marlborough to let me experience drinking wine in the vineyard, literally. Eventually you can see a lot of vineyard on the left and right side of the road in Marlborough.

Beautiful lake

my virgin experience in a vineyard

Am I jumping high enough?
There is this souvenir shop in the Vines Village. We spent some time wandering inside the shop and came to this beautiful thing.

so many different types of buttons oMg

and cute cloth

Yes, that's why drink more wine ok?
This is the place where you can try 5 types of wines at the price of NZ5. So cheap right? I was the only one who drank erm, cos Jou said if she drinks as well, then no one will be driving us around. Sorry Jou, you have to sacrifice yourself. I will drink more on your behalf.

There is this real grapes growing around the roof pole at the main entrance of this Cellar Door.

And this is one of the random vineyards at the roadside after we have left The Vines Village
And this is the main vineyard that Jou had already planned- Brancott Estate

Brancott Estate
Why is it called the estate?

Just look how big the vineyard is..

the estate is so huge...
It was lunch hour when we arrived at the hill and of course, being the wine producer, there is a cellar door and a restaurant waiting for us.

But first, a glass of the house wine please..
We chose to sit outside to feel the natural air and to take more pictures..

model of the day and trust me, it was very very windy..
If they have a homestay on this estate, I WILL BE THE FIRST TO GO !

Nothing beats the experience of drinking a glass of wine, overlooking the sprawling vineyard..ahh, I'm so missing this place right now
Lunch is served with this view : Jou's pork chop

and my steak. This is super yummy I tell you

they even had a trained falcon to chase away all the pest that will destroy their grapes production

we just casually walked around the estate
On the our journey to Motueka, we stopped at a this lovely pier at Picton.

But wait, one for the memory first ok..

Picton is a small town located near the head of Queen Charlotte Sound at the northern tip of the South Island of New Zealand. It is also the gateway to Marlborough Sound which I shall visit in the future. We parked our cars and walked along the streets.

Don't play play, they won the Bakery of the Year 2016

Must have New Zealand's favourite- The Hokey Pokey.

Then we quickly continued our journey back and used the Queen Charlotte Highway as suggested by the sales lady at The White Haven earlier and true enough, we came to this amazing view!

Amazing View from the Cullen Point Lookout

As we continued driving down hill, we came to this little beach and it is compulsory for us to stop and take a picture and also for toilet breaks.

There are some accomodation nearby and it is good to stay for a a night to get into this little beach

Us :)
We then continued our journey and came to Nelson. Not the Nelson Mandela ok.
For your kind info, Nelson is the sunniest region in New Zealand.

We stopped by to take a break at this Boat Shed Cafe which is located on the seaside.

View from the cafe

We ordered a camomile and sencha for Jou. Bought their carrot cake and berlino bol for take-aways

A very nice cafe overlooking the sea which are full of activities- kayaking, sailing and others
Penguins crossing- Cute signboard right outside the Boat Shed Cafe

See, in deed it is the sunniest throughout my trip so far
And finally, we arrived at Motueka but for this sheeps right, seriously I have no idea which farm or which stop we took. Sorry not much info but I will remember those sheeps..hey...don't run away

We checked in to our backpackers at The Laughing Kiwi because apparently you will keep laughing once you stay there. heheheh. This round we had 2 single beds to ourselves and of course a shared bathroom outside.

Our last backpacker of the trip

We walked around Motueka town which now I recalled back it is just a tiny town but I really don't know why this signboard said that it is the best town in 2010. Hmm..

We had indian food at Simply Indian. Ordered their Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma and shared a garlic and cheese naan. The waiter even asked if we want the New Zealand spicy or the Indian spicy. Of course we went with the Indian Spicy. I overheard a guest in another table complaining to the waiter that the New Zealand spicy for their curry is very spicy. Erm, hello, curry is curry ok, it has to have some spice to give you the aroma and kick.

After dinner, we went to Armadillo's Bar to try their local beer- Spierlg's Beer. Not bad but I still prefer their wine, thank you very much.

Spierlg's Beer
Nelson is quite a sleepy town, don't kill me if I said in this way, maybe just not my type of town. Anyway, we head back to the Laughing Kiwis to get more laughters hahaha. Tomorrow is going to be another good day as we will be going to the Abel Tasman and chill at the beach.

New Zealand Day 10 : Kaikoura and Blenheim

7/11/2016 Monday

It's hit the road trip again! We had avocadoes and tomato paste soup for breakfast and off we go again! The journey from Christchurch to Kaikoura took us about 4.5 hours and very unfortunately, the weather was so gloomy and drizzling the whole journey.

Gloomy gloomy weather
And we arrived at the Point Kean Seal Colony and guess what..

Someone is sunbathing on the rock

Spot the seals

Hope I don't scare them away

OMG, look that this lazy fatty seal. Sooooooo cute. Just sleeping carefreely on the grass

OMG I'm like so near to him..I almost wanted to poke him and said Oii wake up lah..don't sleep anymore

See how cute it is.. Just want to squash it

Us and the lazy seal

One more
We didn't plan for any whale watching trip and hence after spending about 2 hours looking at the sleepy seal, we headed for lunch. We drove along the West End and found there are many F&B along the streets. We parked our car and just randomly choose one fish and chip restaurant and it turned out to be the best in town yet again.

Shared a set of fish and chips at the Coopers Catch

Seafood Chowder
After a heavy lunch, Jou called to the Cellar Door at Blenheim to check out what time they close and very unfortunately as well, they close at 4.30pm on that day and we could not make it anymore by the time we got there.

Along the way, we came to this Lavendyl Lavender Farm but again so unfortunate of us today, it is not the lavender season :(
If not mistaken, we paid NZ1 or 2 to the owner and we just walk around the garden to get some lavender feel even though it is not the season.

Super friendly Golden Retriever who knows how to greet customers

and very cheeky as well. After a few performance, she decided to hid in his kennel
We then wandered around the garden to take some pictures.

This is lavender- pre blooming.. just imagine all of them is in purple
As the day is getting late, we decided to check in to our motel. Jou chose this perfect motel at Admirals Motor Lodge at Middle Renwick Road in Blenheim. Super recommended to stay and for those who plans to go to the Blenheim.

1 Queen size and A single bed for the 2 of us? I took the single bed and slept soundly throughout the night. The next best accomodation after the Victoria Hotel at Dunedin

It has a small kitchen as well

The best is, we just parked our car right in front of our door
We then drove to the nearby Countdown to get some alcohols and snacks for dinner.

Dinner is served! We cooked instant noodles, and our take away pasta and mushroom soup

and not forgetting the gigantic strawberries..ahh finally

And the main guy- yummy La Vie and a bottle of Chardonnay
We slept early as we planned to go to the vineyard the very next day. Praying hard for a good weather tomorrow.
