New Zealand Day 5 : Lake Tekapo to Queenstown

2/11/2016 Wednesday

Alright, once we checked out from the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge, we started our journey to Queenstown.

Somehow, we came across this channel we passed by yesterday and so Jou stopped at the side for my compulsory-jump-photo.

The colour of the water is turquoise even though there is no sunlight to reflect it

Tadah, not so glamour but good try
And then we came to another salmon farm again. This time is the High Country Salmon.

Even the water here is so crystal clear

Salmon Chowder. Super yummy, full with salmon fillet

Shared this with Jou for our breakfast- Salmon Teriyaki served with fresh coleslaw

Full and contented

and another thick cut of Sashimi of course
One thing which is different from the Lake Pukaki as of yesterday is..we can feed some mandarin ducks and salmon here.

Hey why can't click the video. I swear I fed the salmon here ok.

The pellet is FOC but limited to 1 small cup per person.

After feeding those salmons and ducks, we continued our journey and managed to stop at this souvenir shop for toilet breaks.

The Wrinkly Rams
I managed to get few sheeps keychains and postcards for souvenirs from this shop. Nothing much to see except some souvenirs here so we continued driving until we arrived at this place.
Waitiki District

The Road to Lindis Pass.  It is the highest point on the South Island's state highway network, and the second highest point on the New Zealand Stated Highway network, after the Desert Road. Hence, you can see a lot of the grass tuft which make up the whole landscape.

Whee..

Thanks to a random strangers for the picture

Beautiful view

Happiness on my face

Love the view behind me

And this view

Alright, then we continued driving until we arrived at this small little bridge and decided to stop by the river.

Yea, for a jumping photo

more jumps
And then we saw something like the Windows Wallpaper view.

With hundreds of moo moo cow

particularly this one who keep staring at me. I took this photo while I was sitting in the car as I afraid that she will come after me as I was wearing RED.

Ok, enough of photos, let's continue driving.

Beautiful view

Just further down the road, we saw plenty of small yellow flowers just by the roadside.

And we decided to stop again for some crazy and stupid photos HEHE

How can I not jump here with the flower of course.

Wallpaper
And the whole journey is very much of this view.

And finally we arrived at Cromwell!

We stopped by a shop for..:

Jumping photos of course..

No la..actually we stopped here for ice-cream

I mean the real mixed fruits ice-cream

So creamy and so fruity

I'm a happy and fat girl

spot your currency! WOW, some one pinned a RM10 note here.

happy faces with the ice-cream by the lake Dunstan which is just right opposite the shop

Not again? This time with the ice-cream. Luckily I didn't drop my ice-cream
Cromwell is well quite famous for orchards and..

Gold mining

Look at this Kawarau  river. The colour is so fresh OMG

This is the Gold Fields Mining Centre

Of course, we stopped by here to see what it has to show us.

They have a restaurant here but we did not dine here

Me thinking about life again
We didn't take the tour in this mining centre so we just continued our journey. So basically we just stopped for pictures and toilet breaks.

Beware of 65 degree turning
And then, we arrived at the stream that roared.

Roaring Meg Hydro Scheme

This roaring stream is really so pretty

How not to jump here??????

Er, thanks uncle for taking this photo but your finger erm..

Ok, enough of photos by the roaring stream, now let's really continue our journey.

The road without cars

Hi Meg, we meet again

no car seriously?

No cars?
And finally, thanks to the same stream, we came to a real jumping area, AJ Hackett Bungy.

Practicing for the real jump later heeheh

There was a couple who jumped together, yeah, legit. You jump, I Jump.

There is this life guard boat waiting to 'save' you up.
See this beautiful stream.

As for me, er, no thanks. I just jump from here will do. Please turn this picture upside down and I'm on bungy jump already

sweaty palms and shaky legs looking down from the bridge, how to have the courage to jump you tell me? My friend, Evonne ,she took the courage to jump down when she was here. Maybe just after a few days after I was here.

beautiful stream

Ok, enough of the adrenaline rush area, we moved on to our journey.

This is the road to Arrowtown- just 25 minutes away from Queenstown!

Jou said this place is really beautiful in Autumn.

Can imagine lor cos all the trees leaves will have different shades of autumn colours.

We basically just drove around this little town, didn't stop for a picture at all.
And so, let's continue our journey to Queenstown.

Tadah- we are here finally. Almost 5 hours of driving from Lake Tekapo
What else, of course JUMP LAH..

Weeeeeee..

Jou, the tired driver. Xin Khu ni lah..

Lake Wakatipu

The pier at Lake Wakatipu

We are finally here in Queenstown!

A crazy girl jumping in front of a random tree
When you are in Queenstown, you have to eat this!

Ferg Burger!

Even the door also got the founder's face.
We walked to the nearby park to enjoy our burgers. Just like how the ang mohs do :)
Avocado Chicken Burger

Jou had a fish burger but we both shared half so we can tried different flavours. Of course we asked them to cut into half
The burgers are so yummy...even the ducks and pigeons also came chasing after me.

Ferg Burger, so yummy that is is not only for humans..HEHEHHE I was being surrounded by these group of ducks and pigeons for my burger huhuhu
After eating, we saw this overly-obsessed-couple PDA-ing in the open air garden and guess what..we cannot help but to wefie with them.

Hie..gotcha u both
Ok, let's ignore them. Let's move to our motel- Base Backpackers Motel

Tadah..it is strategically located in the main street where there are many shops around
Yes, this round, we are still staying in a backpackers but only the both of us as Jou managed to booked the private double room for us. The shower is outside and have to share with others but still better than the one yesterday. Sounds like getting better and better.

At night, Jou brought me to this super freezing cold bar at Minus 5 to enjoy some cocktails. If not mistaken, she got it at a cheaper price at Groupon. Luckily they have these big warm jacket and boots to keep ourselves warm since it is minus 5!

it was so so so so cold! And good thing is that the bar is so empty that only left Jou and me

even the glass is made of ice

Wefie kao kao here

trying to jump here

stupid pose

us on a ice-carved chair
After spending about 45 minutes in here, we decided to leave as nothing much to do since we have finished our cocktails. We decided to head back to our motels as we were really tired from the driving (Jou) and as for me, I was so tired from all the jumps. I calculated that we actually stopped 10 times just to jumped for photos. This excluding the number of failed jumps which Jou failed to capture. Hence you know why we need to sleep early so we can jump more tomorrow . Hehe.

And another reason that we need to sleep early is we have to wake up by 530am the next day for our trip to Milford Sound! This is a fun and exciting trip as we will be sitting a bus to the jetty and then sit the ferry to the sound and there will be like hundreds and hundreds of waterfalls around it. Stay tuned for my next post.
